Place of residence
Finding a nice place to live can turn into a problem sometimes. It must be noted that rent is quite high in Finland, especially in urban areas. Also, tenants are asked to pay a deposit – one or two months’ rent – when moving in the first payment can lead to an amount exceeding 1000 euro or even more.
It is possible to rent a place to live either from individual, company or state. Note that there can be a waiting list for the best places and several competitors for the place. Processing can take a lot of time, sometimes even 2 or 3 months. Renting from the individual can be arranged faster but it also depends on the landlord.
Additional to the rent and deposit there can be water and/or electricity charges added. It is possible that water charge is 20 or 25euro/month for one person so if several people live in the same place charges go up. Consider it before signing a contract!
Also, usually, landlords are interested to rent the place for longer periods like 1 or 2 years. It is the choice they can make but you can discuss it. The law does not prohibit it, it is just security the landlord tries to set.
Apartment or house insurance is also asked as responsibility tenant must fulfil. The price depends on the size of the living place, location, age of the tenant and other factors.

Piemērota mājokļa meklēšana var ieilgt. Uzreiz jāņem vērā, ka īresmaksa Somijā ir augsta. Īrniekiem prasa arī iemaksāt mājokļa depozītu – viena vai divu mēnešu īresmaksu – tādejādi pirmais maksājums ir sevišķi liels – virs 1000 un vairāk eiro.
Īrēt dzīvokli/māju/ istabu piedāvā kā privātpersonas, tā kompānijas un pašvaldība. Ņem vērā, ka, iespējams, būs jāgaida rindā, it īpaši uz labākajām vietā. Laiks no dzīvesvietas atrašanas līdz ievākšanās brīdim ir salīdzinoši ilgs – tie var būt pat vairāki mēneši, tāpēc šo lēmumu pieņem laicīgi!
Papildus mājokļa īrei, var nākties maksāt atsevišķi par ūdeni un/vai elektrību utt., summas atšķiras. Piemēram, ja mēnša ūdens maksa vieni personai ir 20 vai 25 eiro, un, ja vienā mājoklī dzīvo vairākas personas, izmaksas ir lielākas. Apsver šo pirms līguma parakstīšanas!
Turklāt, parasti izīrētāji ir ieniteresēti mājokli izīrēt uz ilgāku laika period, piemēram, gadu vai diviem. Arī mājokļa apdrošināšana, iespējams, būs jāiegādājas īrniekam. Tās summa atkarīga no mājokļa platības, atrašanās vietas, īrnieka vecuma un citiem aspektiem.
